Marymede Catholic College Teacher Mr. Liam McCormack recently led a group of young Australians incuding our very own Year 11 student Clarissa Polifroni to the 14th World Youth Day summit which is this year being held in Karkow, Poland.

Mr. McCormack has been in contact with the College and sent through an update on the beginning of their journey:

"World Youth Day officially started today and we kicked things off with the biggest ever gathering of Australians in Poland. We then commenced our walk (in the pouring rain!) to the WYD opening Mass which saw us join over 1 million pilgrims from all parts of the globe. The sun would finally break through the clouds and shine rays of light on us during the Mass. It was a truly humbling experience to see the Church alive in so many young people.

We have been focusing on the face of mercy and what it looks like to us and to others around the world. We are also learning more about ourselves and developing our faith each day. The countdown to Mass with the the Holy father is almost over and we are looking forward to celebrating this special event with potentially over 2 million people!

We are exhausted at the end of every day yet still blessed to be a part of this amazing experience."
