SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION DATE

Exam Date: The Scholarship examination for Year 7 2023 was held on Saturday 19 March 2022

CLOSING DATE

Applications for scholarships must be submitted via the online registration process no later than Monday 14 March 2022.

APPLICATION FEE

An Application Fee of $88.00 will apply for all Scholarships.

MARYMEDE CATHOLIC COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS 2023

Marymede Catholic College is committed to providing an educational environment where students are challenged to pursue excellence. The College’s Mission Statement emphasises our aim to provide students with a rich, balanced and comprehensive education. All activities in the school contribute to learning and the development of the skills and talents of each individual student. We also support full participation in College life, irrespective of financial circumstances. Marymede Catholic College offers a number of Scholarships to prospective and current students:

  • Academic Excellence Scholarship - Available to students entering Year 7.
  • General Excellence Scholarship - Available to students entering Year 7.

Marymede’s Academic Scholarships may carry remission of up to 25% of tuition fees and are conditional upon sound academic progress and active participation in all aspects of College life.

Marymede’s General Excellence Scholarships may carry remission of up to 25% of tuition fees and are conditional upon students meeting the eligibility requirements and College expectations.

ELIGIBILTY

Year 7 2023 Academic Excellence Scholarship

To be eligible to apply for this Scholarship, a candidate must be either a Year 6 student at Marymede Catholic College in 2022, or a prospective external student applying for Year 7 enrolment at Marymede Catholic College in 2023. Students will be required to sit the Scholarship Test along with a formal interview following for any students who are shortlisted into Stage 2. This Scholarship is intended to maintain and improve the high standard of academic achievement of a current student and to give them the opportunity to continue to excel in their future years.

This Scholarship would be in effect for the student’s six years in Secondary School at the College subject to continued high academic progress. (Scholarship will be awarded from 2023).

Year 7 2023 General Excellence Scholarship

To be eligible to apply for this Scholarship, a candidate must be either a current Year 6 student at Marymede Catholic College in 2022, or a prospective external student applying for enrolment at Marymede Catholic College in 2023. General Excellence Scholarships are assessed by application by the Principal, taking five categories into consideration:

  • Academic record;
  • Sporting achievements;
  • The Arts;
  • Leadership and Community service;
  • Contribution to the College/current school.

Students will be required to sit the Scholarship Test with a formal interview following for any students who are shortlisted into Stage 2 (determined by strength of application).

This Scholarship would be in effect for the student’s six years in Secondary School at the College. (Scholarship will be awarded from 2023).

SELECTION

Academic Excellence

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of achievement in an external test and an interview with the Principal (interviews for shortlisted candidates only). Candidates who are short listed for an interview will be notified by telephone at which point, additional documentation may be requested. 

General Excellence

Scholarships will be awarded by the determination of the Principal in conjunction with application questions and results of examination. Shortlisted candidates will also be required to sit an interview with the Principal. Candidates will be shortlisted based on strength of application. General Excellence Scholarships are assessed by application, taking five categories into consideration:

  • Academic record;
  • Sporting achievements;
  • The Arts;
  • Leadership and Community service;
  • Contribution to the College/current school.

Candidates who are short listed for an interview will be notified by telephone at which point, additional documentation may be requested.

PLEASE NOTE: The College will not enter into further correspondence regarding Scholarship outcomes and selections with families on unsuccessful applicants.

CONDITIONS OF SCHOLARSHIPS

All Scholarships are subject to annual review and the College reserves the right to withdraw any Scholarship in the event of unsatisfactory academic progress and/or participation in College life.

All Scholarships are conditional upon the recipient remaining at Marymede Catholic College until the end of Year 12, except for relocation to another state. Should a student in receipt of a Scholarship leave Marymede prematurely (for example to enter another Melbourne school), then the value of the Scholarship already received is required to be repaid to the College.
