ALL SHOOK UP (2024)

After months of rehearsal and preparation, Marymede Catholic College’s production of 'All Shook Up' took place at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre from Wednesday 29 May to Saturday 1 June.

Based on Shakespeare’s The Twelfth Night and featuring the music of Elvis, the story of Chad, the motorcycle riding roustabout who rode in and turned a town upside down with Rock and Roll music, has been so much fun to put together. All 4 shows where amazing and went seamlessly, which is a testament to the hard work put in by the cast, crew and staff involved.

From the first auditions in February students have worked collaboratively on this show, and that was evident in each performance. The cast have worked hard to learn lines, master choreography, and learn their scenes, all whilst supporting each other by cheering from the sidelines, practicing together and helping answer each other’s questions. The respect and friendship shown in the cast is part of what made this cast and show so special.

Bringing this show to the community has been a joy. Our preview performance on Wednesday 29 May was attended by both students at the College, and residents of local aged care facilities. This was very well received and was an amazing opportunity to give back to the community. From there, the only way was up as our 3 evening shows were well-attended by audiences of staff, students, family members and the general public. It was amazing to hear the crowd laugh and cheer along with each character.

We thank all the cast, crew and teachers for all their hard work they put into the show over the last 6 months. Special thanks to Morgana Jones, Liam Kilgour, Justin Gillivour, Annemarie Gullaci, Emma Kiely, Nanette Mangoba, Theresa Egglezos, Bec Lonie, Anna Liggieri, and Ellen Lane. The countless hours these staff have given to make this show what it was has not gone unnoticed. Thank you also to Sharon Bluett, Olaf Boon, Lucas Goddard and Lauren Bezzina for their help and support in rehearsals, sourcing props, building the set and putting together the program. We also appreciate the support from Leadership and the PRACC staff for helping us make All Shook Up such an amazing success.

THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. (2023)

The 2023 school production WAS The Little Mermaid Jr, which hit the stage Thursday 30 August to Saturday 2 September 2023. With rehearsals happening every Thursday and Friday after school, the show hit the stages before we knew it. With favourites like Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl being cast favourites, the show was definitely one not to be missed. The cast was involved in a full day rehearsal on Monday 24 July, getting ready for opening night on Thursday 31 August.

GREASE MUSICAL (2022)

In Week 5 of Term 2 in 2022 our Senior production of Grease took to the stage at PRACC (Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre) as the college’s first live performance in 2 years. Our cast and crew of Year 7-12 students who had been rehearsing twice a week afterschool since February, were most excited to perform to a live audience of family, friends, staff and the wider Marymede community once again. The Grease production team were extremely proud of all students involved in bringing this iconic and much loved 50s musical to life with their talents in singing, dancing and acting.
