Vocational Education and Training (VET)
VET programs allow students to gain nationally recognised qualifications while completing their VCE or VCE-VM. Delivered through practical, industry-based training, VET equips students with real-world skills in areas such as hospitality, music, IT, and more. VET units contribute to VCE completion and may also count toward a student’s ATAR, offering a valuable pathway to further study or employment.
Marymede Catholic College is part of a Northern hub of schools that share facilities to broaden students’ VET selection pathways. Some of our VET students travel to other schools for industry-specific facilities, and similarly, we have students who travel to our facilities.
Our Trade Skills Centre at the South Morang Campus boasts industry-specific facilities, allowing students to expand their skill set within the Building Construction/Carpentry, Furniture Making, and Metal Engineering industries and commence training toward industry pathways post-Secondary School. We offer classes in carpentry, building design, and engineering. It’s a state-of-the-art space for anyone wanting to obtain a trade qualification upon finishing school.
As our Doreen Campus evolves, our future Year 10-12 students across both Campuses will have access to additional facilities that will grow this Northern hub in additional VET Pathways. These may include Community service - Early childhood and care, Electrotechnology, Sport and Recreation, Plumbing, laboratory skills and information technologies.
