At Marymede Catholic College we acknowledge the achievements of our students within our diverse community as they strive to challenge themselves In the way of Mary.
The College’s Affirmation Policy enables our community to acknowledge and affirm students who have achieved personal excellence or made significant contributions to the College that espouse our values of compassion, inclusivity, integrity, learning and respect.
By affirming our students, we encourage them to continue to grow, lead and serve during their time at the College and beyond.
Principles
All students have the opportunity to be affirmed and acknowledged for growth.
We believe that by acknowledging positive achievements students will strive to reach their goals.
Growth for all can be achieved in various ways.
Marymede will provide a variety of opportunities for students to achieve their goals both inside and outside of the classroom.
Achievement can occur through Academic, College Co-Curricular activities and involvement in community service programs.
We encourage persistence, determination and a positive attitude to learning.
We recognise students who demonstrate excellence and endeavour in their studies.
We believe in assessing achievement using a pre-determined standard.
College Colour Awards
The Marymede Catholic College Colour Awards acknowledge, affirm and celebrate students’ significant achievements and contributions to the Marymede community through out a school year.
Colours are awarded in the following categories:
Students are required to ensure they correctly record their attendance or participation. An opportunity will be provided at the end of year in advance of the Awards Evening for students to review their points tally.
How to achieve College Colours
To achieve College Colours students in Year 7 -12 must achieve specific outcomes in a Colour Category over the course of a school year. Points are awards for approved activities in each category. Students can achieve their Colours in more than one category each year.
Students must ensure that their attendance and participation is recorded on attendance lists for each activity. This data is recorded on SIMON as a commendation for students and families to see. An opportunity will be provided at the end of year in advance of the Awards Evening for students to review their points tally.
Student who achieve the requirement for each category in a school year will be acknowledged at the end of year College Awards Evening. They will receive a certificate and a letter confirming that they can have the appropriate College Colours embroidered on their blazer pocket and the year of achievement.
